The academic year for 2021-22 began with an inauguration session organised by the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, to welcome the students of 3MAIS into the new academic year. The session began with Dr. Manoharan N, the class teacher, wholeheartedly welcoming the students, distinguished guests, and faculty members to the session that was held on Webex. The inaugural address was given by Reverend Dr. Father Jose CC, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the Director, Department of International Studies, Political Science and History. He formally welcomed the students and conveyed his blessings and wishes. He spoke of new beginnings and the importance that this year held in shaping the students' career prospects. He touched upon the employability assets of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that students should seek to inculcate in themselves this year. He also mentioned the three core values of reliability, integrity, and sincerity that students must live up to as Christites in their academic and professional journey ahead.

After an enlightening address by Father Jose, Dr. Madhumati Deshpande, the Coordinator, Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, shared an overview of the academic and co-curricular activities the students can expect in this academic year. She highlighted that the activities, such as Techniques of Journal Review, activities under Lyceum, and IRMUN, would be instrumental in equipping the students with key graduate attributes, especially those necessary to face a professional world. She encouraged the students to view every event organised under Department of International Studies, Political Science and Hisotry, as an opportunity to learn something new and build core academic skills.

The inauguration was adorned by the gracious presence of Dr. Suba Chandran, Dean, School of Conflict and Security Studies at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, who shared his thoughts on academic culture and academic integrity. He highlighted the necessity of academic integrity at the early stages of academic life and eloquently shared the most important pillars of academic integrity, namely honesty, responsibility, patience, fairness, respect, courage, and trust. He expressed the need for students to abide by these pillars in their academic journey by sharing his personal and professional experiences with them. His insights demonstrated the need to value humility over pride in the students' interaction with professors, mutual respect in the academic and professional realm, and most importantly, nurturing and respecting the professional relationship between students and professors. In essence, Dr. Suba Chandran shared the core elements that constitute the academic spirit, ethics, and environment in a compendious manner. Dr. Suba's lecture was the best motivation one could have asked for at the beginning of the new academic year.

This was followed by a brief address from the course subject teachers, Dr. MJ Vinod and Dr. Anurag Tripathi from Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, and Dr. Shilpi Roy Chowdhury from School of Law, who wished the best to everyone for the academic year. The event concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Hanspreet Kaur of 3MAIS.
